Asia’sAsia’s 1st Brand with MADE SAFE™ Certified Products. Mamaearth was started by a husband-wife duo- Varun Alagh and Ghazal Alagh, in 2016. It is a company known for delivering non-toxic products in the competitive global market of FMCG companies. Delhi-based Mamaearth is a direct-to-consumer brand offering various products in hair, skin and body categories. In 2021, it became a unicorn after raising $38 Mn from Sequoia Capital at a post-money valuation of $1.07 Bn. It has acquired three companies

– skincare brand Dr Sheth, mothers-focussed online content community Momspresso

and hair colour company BBLUNT.

Bengaluru-based meat and seafood brand Licious was founded in 2015 by Vivek Gupta and Abhay Hanjura. It serves the best, fresh and clean chicken, fish, meat, and eggs online. The company works on a farm-to-fork model owning the entire back-end supply chain and the cold chain. There is one separate recipe section in their App that helps customers cook delicious dishes. And also teaches the exotic chef style.

Meesho aims to create an environment where anyone can start their business with zero investment. Bengaluru-based Meesho provides secure and timely transactions and low-cost returns and shipping. An e-commerce platform Purplle offers a host of beauty products and appliances founded in 2012 by Manish Taneja and Rahul Dash. Some brands that have a presence on the forum are Lakme, Plum, mCaffeine, Maybelline, and SUGAR Cosmetics.

Udaan is a B2B e-commerce marketplace that connects small and medium businesses, manufacturers, wholesalers, traders and retailers at one place. Founded in 2016 by former Flipkart executives–Sujeet Kumar, Vaibhav Gupta, and Amod Malviya. It operates across categories: lifestyle, electronics, home & kitchen, staples, fruits and vegetables, FMCG, pharma, toys and general merchandise. Only after two years of its inception, it entered the unicorn club after securing $225 Mn from DST Global and Lightspeed Venture Partners’Partners’ global fund. 

  1. Bizongo 

Aniket Deb, Sachin Agrawal and Ankit Tomar founded Bizongo in 2015. Three IIT graduates started this venture to digitally transform the fragmented, unorganised, unique, and ubiquitous B2B segment of customised goods. Today, the company focuses on packaging, textiles, apparel & other contract-manufacturing goods. The company has a network of over 1500 curated manufacturers across these categories.

Paytm started the Digital Revolution in India. Founded in 2010 by Vijay Shekhar Sharma under One97 Communications. Currently, 20 Mn+ merchants & businesses are digitally powered by Paytm to Accept Payments. More than 300 million Indians pay through Paytm at stores. Noida-based Paytm is used to do Recharges, Pay bills, Send money to friends & family, Book movies & travel tickets etc.

  1. PhonePe

Indian digital payments and financial technology company PhonePe is headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. PhonePe was founded in December 2015 by Sameer Nigam, Rahul Chari and Burzin Engineer. The digital payments industry in India is reported to be growing to around $700 billion by 2022.

It was founded in May 2015 by IIT Kharagpur graduates Sachin Jaiswal, Keshav Prawasi, Shishir Modi and Nitin Babel. Niki.AI offers a virtual shopping assistant powered by artificial intelligence with the same name. This assistant converses with customers in their chosen language and helps them complete financial transactions.

GlowRoad was founded in June 2017 by Sonal Verma, Kunal Sinha, Nitesh Pant, Shekhar Sahu and Nilesh Padariya. It gives users access to a virtual shop; through this, they can efficiently work from home and earn money online by reselling products on WhatsApp and Facebook. It also leads users to millions of products from trusted suppliers, payments and shipping facilities, thereby removing the hassles of starting an online business. In October 2007, two IIT Delhi alumnus Binny Bansal and Sachin Bansal founded the Indian e-commerce company Flipkart. Before Flipkart, they both worked at amazon. Under the name ”Big Billion Days,” Flipkart runs an annual event promoting sales through huge discounts. Flipkart deals in various products initially; it began as an online book sales company, and afterwards, it expanded its domain. Bangalore-based company deals in various categories, such as fashion, home essentials, consumer electronics, groceries and lifestyle products.

An MBA student Richa Kaur started her venture Zivame in 2011. In India, lingerie shopping has been taboo, as various women feel uncomfortable shopping for these essentials from the shop. This idea gives Richa one of his ventures. With consideration of this, she developed an online lingerie shopping platform. The name Zivame comes from the Hebrew word radiance.

Peyush Bansal founded Lenskart in 2010 with Sumeet Kapahi and Amit Chaudhary. It is a leading and renowned name in the Indian market for eyewear dealing with eyeglasses, contact lenses and sunglasses. Lenskart currently deals with 5,000 styles of frames and 45 different types of superior quality lenses to its customers following an inventory-based model. They also use Germany imported technologies in their manufacturing to make eyewear accurate upto 3 decimal points.

Travel & Tourism company MakeMyTrip has headquarters in Gurugram, Haryana, India. The company was founded in 2000 and It has 4228 employees and a revenue of $10M. MakeMyTrip specialises in flight booking and hotel booking. MakeMyTrip is a public company.
