New Delhi: Campa Cola, owned by Reliance Consumer Products, has bagged a massive ₹200 crore sponsorship deal for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. This deal gives Campa Cola the co-presenting rights for IPL 2025, a spot that was previously held by Coca-Cola’s Thums Up.
This is a big step for Campa Cola as it aims to go head-to-head with industry giants like Coca-Cola. Until now, Campa was available only in select markets, but this summer, for the first time, all major cola brands will be competing on a national scale. A company executive called this a major push to make Campa Cola a household name across India.
Reliance Consumer Products is also getting ready to promote its energy drinks, Spinner and RasKik Gluco Energy, priced at just ₹10 each. These drinks will get plenty of screen time during the IPL. Spinner, which was co-developed with Sri Lankan cricket legend Muttiah Muralitharan, has already teamed up with multiple IPL teams, including Lucknow Super Giants, SunRisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Mumbai Indians.
Of course, Coca-Cola isn’t sitting idle. It will continue its sponsorship deals with Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders while also securing new ad slots. Plus, Coca-Cola is working closely with Domino’s, which has over 1,000 outlets in India. This partnership comes after Jubilant FoodWorks (which runs Domino’s in India) bought a 40% stake in Coca-Cola’s bottling arm, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), last December.
Advertising revenue from IPL 2025 is expected to jump by 8-10% compared to last year, reaching around ₹4,500 crore. This shows just how powerful IPL is as a marketing platform.
Meanwhile, the IPL itself is getting more valuable every year. A recent Brand Finance report valued all IPL teams together at a whopping $12 billion in 2024, a 13% jump from $2 billion in 2009. For the first time ever, four teams, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Royal Challengers Bangalore, have each crossed a $100 million brand value.
With IPL 2025 set to run from March 21 to May 25, the competition won’t just be on the cricket field. The summer months are peak season for soft drink sales, making this the perfect time for Campa Cola to take on the big names and grab a larger share of the market.
