New Delhi: Cityflo, Mumbai’s leading premium daily commute service, is accelerating its growth throughout the nation, with the addition of 100 custom-built buses, developed in partnership with Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV). Designed to improve service agility and efficiency, these new buses will enable faster route expansion, reduced travel times, and greater flexibility in daily operations.
Smaller Buses, Faster Growth
Cityflo’s new 27-seater fleet is a game-changer in urban transit, allowing for quicker route launches and higher service frequency. With a more compact design, these buses fill up faster, making it easier to scale operations in high-demand areas. “One of the biggest constraints in launching new routes is ensuring optimal occupancy from day one. These buses allow us to do just that—by reaching full capacity faster, we can launch and sustain more routes across the city at an accelerated pace,” said Jerin Venad, Founder & CEO of Cityflo. “There is significant demand for smaller, high-frequency routes which connect business districts efficiently without unnecessary detours.”
Shorter Journey Times, Smoother Rides
Mumbai’s traffic congestion continues to be a persistent challenge, with the city’s vehicle count nearing 5 million as approximately 193 new cars and 460 bikes are added daily. This surge contributes to prolonged commute durations, with the average Mumbaikar spending considerable time on the road each day.
“In a city where professionals often spend over an hour commuting one way, the introduction of these buses can help reduce the load on the roads,” said Jerin Venad, Founder & CEO of Cityflo. “These 27-seater vehicles are designed for swift navigation through Mumbai’s congested streets, enabling us to reduce journey times by up to 13%. This means customers not only get a service that’s comparable to their own vehicle but also allows them to reach the office faster.”
Flexibility Beyond Peak Hours
Another key advantage of the fleet expansion is the ability to deploy more buses during non-peak hours, a feature that has increasingly been seeing higher demand, especially for professionals who opt for more flexible hours or need more efficient first and last mile connectivity. The smaller fleet format allows for more intuitive scheduling, ensuring a more consistent service throughout the day.
Building with the Best: Partnership with Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV)
The partnership with Eicher is integral to Cityflo’s vision of changing the narrative of daily transit in India. “Urban mobility is evolving, and Cityflo is pioneering a commuter-first approach that balances comfort, speed, and efficiency,” said Venad.
“We take pride in engineering passenger friendly vehicles that not only deliver superior value to operators, but also engineered for the changing dynamics of modern cities. This collaboration with Cityflo marks an important milestone in Eicher Trucks and Buses journey of creating smarter, more sustainable transit options.” concludes Suresh Chettiar, Executive Vice President Bus Division, VECV.
Rethinking Transit for a Faster India
With over 1 million new buses expected to be added across India in the next decade, Cityflo’s latest expansion strategically positions it at the forefront of solving urban transport challenges. The company aims to deploy 500 buses across five metro cities by 2026, further optimizing business district connectivity nationwide.
Cityflo currently helps replace approximately 800,000 car trips every year, reducing congestion and cutting carbon emissions by over 27,422 tons annually. With its latest fleet enhancements, the company is poised to make daily commutes across India smarter, faster, and more efficient than ever before.
