True Frog was incepted in early 2020 by Sarika Gawande, Subrata Nag and Mangesh Gawande. Headquartered in Bangalore and with a pan-India market presence, it started from a small home-based lab. It currently has an R&D center and a team of professionals to support the overall operations. The company manufactures at an ISO 9001:2015 certified facility in Bangalore. Ms Sarika Gawande shares the idea behind the inception of her brand, “I have been a formulator for 20 years, creating a habit of checking the ingredient labels before purchasing anything. The lack of options in a clean and environment-friendly product line was unpleasant. The only ones I could find were expensive international brands. So I set out to make products that met international standards and were affordable and accessible to an Indian audience. I wanted them to be sophisticated, world-class, safe and gentle so that even children could use them without hesitation, and thus, True Frog was born!”.

True Frog’s product reflects the health, beauty, and diversity of those who use it. True to its name, the brand refrains from using harmful elements and focuses on efficacy without compromising integrity. For transparency, all the ingredients used are mentioned in every product.

True Frog’s team wanted to build a brand that emphasized clean beauty, says Sarika, “All of our products are to be backed by science and formulated with the best ingredients. So when it came time to pick a name, we wanted to choose something that reflected those two themes. We chose True Frog because True reflects the scientific rigour behind formulating all our products. Frog reflects the uncomplicated purity of our resources”.

No one truly prepares you for what it takes to start a business—just like that, Sarika also had to wear many hats during the first couple of months after starting True Frog, as the Beauty / Personal Care Industry is a highly competitive sector. She travels outside of her comfort zone many times. With her ever-growing team, every day feels like a new challenge, where they think about what they want to build with their brand.

At the end of the day, the main aim she had for her brand, and still the most challenging aspect of it, is to create products that would be gentle on the skin and hair and help people in their day-to-day lives. Truefrog wants to meet and exceed its customers’ expectations with each new product.
