Mumbai: India’s fitness icon and supermodel, whose always been motivating people to become their fittest version, Milind Soman, urged everyone to save the environment by choosing their commuting transport wisely. Continuing his pledge and league of Green Ride, the 57-years -old recently completed around 400km of electric bike riding powered by Ather from Bangalore to Mangalore as part of the “Green Ride 2.0 – a Multi-city campaign”. 

Milind, who kicked off the ride from BKC, Mumbai on 19th December on a cycle till Bangalore, and on Ather electric bike reached Mangalore on 26th December after completing over 1400km altogether. The cities covered enroute were; Mumbai, Pune, Karad, Kolhapur, Belgaon, Shegaon, Hirebennur, Tumkuru, Mysore, and Mangalore. On his route, Milind visited solar energy plants, performed tree plantation drives and also engaged with local NGOs dedicated to the cause of a sustainable environment along the route.

The Green Ride is an initiative to create awareness amongst people to encourage them to keep the environment healthy with pollution-free clean air by making the right choices. It aims at promoting the cause of a Sustainable Environment, Clean Air & Green Energy.

While speaking at the completion of the initiative, Milind said, “I always believe it’s not just about talking regarding deteriorating environmental conditions, but we all need to get up and take necessary steps, which could be taking care of the neighbourhoods, sampling trees or simply by choosing right commuting mode. These small steps can make a big difference to environmental health and our health too.”

The first edition of Green Ride was launched in December 2021. Milind Soman completed a 1,000-km-long bicycle journey from Mumbai to the national capital to raise awareness about air pollution. He cycled 150 km a day to promote cleaner fuel and a healthy lifestyle to tackle pollution.
