New Delhi: Bajaj Auto Ltd, one of India’s leading two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturers, has reported a 7 per cent increase in total sales for April 2023, as compared to the same month in the previous year. According to a regulatory filing by the company, the total sales for April 2023 stood at 3,31,278 units, compared to 3,10,774 units in April 2022.
The two-wheeler segment, which constitutes a significant portion of Bajaj Auto’s overall sales, witnessed a modest 2 per cent growth in April 2023. The total two-wheeler sales for the month stood at 2,87,985 units, compared to 2,81,711 units in the corresponding month last year.
In the domestic market, however, the company’s two-wheeler sales grew significantly, registering a growth of 95 per cent. The total domestic sales for two-wheelers stood at 1,81,828 units in April 2023, compared to 93,233 units in April 2022.
On the other hand, exports of two-wheelers saw a decline of 44 per cent in April 2023, as compared to the same month last year. The total exports for two-wheelers stood at 1,06,157 units in April 2023, compared to 1,88,478 units in April 2022.
Bajaj Auto’s commercial vehicle segment witnessed a substantial growth of 49 per cent in April 2023, with a total sales figure of 43,293 units, compared to 29,063 units in April 2022. In the domestic market, the company’s commercial vehicle sales surged to 31,344 units, a growth of more than three-and-a-half times, compared to 8,944 units in April 2022.
However, the company’s exports of commercial vehicles witnessed a decline of 41 per cent in April 2023, compared to the same month last year. The total exports for commercial vehicles stood at 11,949 units in April 2023, compared to 20,119 units in April 2022.
Bajaj Auto has been one of the leading players in the Indian two-wheeler and three-wheeler market for several decades. The company has a wide range of products in both these segments, catering to different customer segments and price points.
