New Delhi: TP Saurya, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), has announced that it has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Trading Company Ltd (TPTCL) to establish a 200 MW solar project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project is expected to be commissioned by March 2024 and will supply 485 million units of energy annually.

Tata Power, in a regulatory filing, stated that with this agreement, the total renewable energy capacity of TPREL has reached 6,788 MW, with an installed capacity of 3,917 MW, including 2,989 MW of solar and 928 MW of wind power. The company also mentioned that it has 2,871 MW under various stages of implementation.

TPTCL, a power trading company, has entered into a 25-year PPA with TPSL for the project. The company specializes in power trading on the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) and Power Exchange of India Limited (PXIL), among other exchanges.

This project will contribute to the increasing demand for clean energy in India and will help in reducing the carbon footprint. It is a significant step towards achieving the country’s renewable energy targets. The government of India has set a target of achieving 175 GW of renewable energy by 2022, out of which 100 GW is to be achieved through solar power.

Overall, this agreement between TP Saurya and TPTCL is a significant milestone in the country’s transition towards renewable energy and will play a crucial role in meeting the growing energy demands of the country.
