New Delhi: Madhabi Puri Buch, the Chairperson of Sebi, reminisced about her time at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), describing it as akin to being in a pressure cooker. Speaking at the institute’s 59th Annual Convocation on March 30, she recounted the intense pressure, panic, self-doubt, and constant race against deadlines that characterized her student life. Despite moments that provided temporary relief, akin to the whistling of a pressure cooker, she noted that these respites only served to compound the pressure further.
Reflecting on her experience, Buch emphasized how her time at IIM-A equipped her with invaluable skills to navigate such intense pressure. She underscored that learning how to manage within such an environment was one of the most significant takeaways from her IIM-A days.
Addressing the graduating students, Buch highlighted the extraordinary times they were entering, suggesting that they were on the cusp of witnessing the peak of India’s progress. She encouraged them to embrace the myriad opportunities available, emphasizing the potential for growth, inclusion, entrepreneurship, and global leadership.
In essence, Buch conveyed that while her generation had the privilege of witnessing the dawn of a new India, the graduating students were poised to experience its zenith, with abundant opportunities awaiting them.
