Surat/Hazira: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India’s (AM/NS India) flagship plant in Hazira is proud to play a pivotal role in the construction of an engineering marvel, Anji Khad bridge, which saw Railways complete the first loaded train trial run. The company has supplied 100% flat steel supplies (~7000 metric tonnes) to India’s first and only cable-stayed rail bridge that represents more than mere steel structure.
Linking Katra and Reasi sections of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) in Jammu & Kashmir, the Anji Khad bridge – crafted by an Indian multinational engineering and construction company – is a result of innovation and adaptability.
Standing tall in the heart of India’s northern region, where the magnificent Chenab River meanders through the rugged terrain, Anji Khad bridge has not only redefined the landscape of the nation’s infrastructure but also underscored the country’s trajectory towards ‘Viksit Bharat’, envisioned by the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Honourable Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw recently shared a video of the successful trial on social media platform X, highlighting the engineering marvel:
Brimming with pride, Ranjan Dhar, Director and Vice President, Sales & Marketing, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), said: “We feel truly honoured to contribute to nation-building from our flagship plant in Hazira, Gujarat, which has supplied world-class steel to this engineering marvel. Our team has meticulously fabricated the steel, fulfilling almost all of the project requirements from our Hazira plant’s fabrication shop and adhering to precise specifications. Our involvement in this transformative infrastructure project from the beginning speaks volumes about our expertise.”
Mr Dhar added, “This also demonstrates our ability to drive strategic synergy through partnership with esteemed public and private stakeholders to achieve the ambitious goals of ‘Viksit Bharat’. By leveraging each other’s strengths and sharing expertise, we are building not just infrastructure but a more self-reliant and prosperous India for brighter futures.”
AM/NS India has strengthened its position as a reliable partner for India’s infrastructure development by successfully meeting specific steel requirements and navigating logistical challenges in this complex project. Guided by the brand promise: ‘Smarter Steels, Brighter Futures’, the company’s dedication to innovation and customer-centricity positions it well for future contributions to the nation’s growth in a purposeful, inclusive, and sustainable manner.
The company has also significantly contributed to Chenab Bridge – the world’s highest rail bridge – by meeting more than 70% flat steel requirements; these two engineering marvels reflect the nation’s unwavering commitment to transforming its infrastructure with indigenous prowess.
AM/NS India expertise shines:
