New Delhi: Lenskart is gearing up to establish a ‘mega factory’ near Bengaluru airport, seeking approximately 25 acres of land for the venture. Peyush Bansal, the founder and CEO, made the announcement on social media, inviting potential sellers with suitable factory land within a 60-kilometre radius of Kempegowda Bengaluru International Airport to reach out via email.
In response to Bansal’s call, Karnataka’s Minister for Commerce & Industries, Infrastructure, MB Patil, assured government support for Lenskart’s initiative, with officials set to engage with Bansal shortly.
Amidst these developments, Lenskart, reportedly part of SoftBank Vision Fund’s portfolio, is contemplating a public listing. Navneet Govil, managing partner and chief financial officer at SoftBank Vision Fund, hinted at Lenskart’s IPO preparations in an interview. Bansal had previously mentioned the company’s plans to go public, albeit without a sense of urgency.
Established in 2008, Lenskart specializes in eyewear, including glasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, and eye care products. With a network of over 1,500 omnichannel stores across 175 cities in India, Singapore, and Dubai, the company aims to cater to 1 billion eyes globally by 2025.
