New Delhi: Google has announced a host of new features for Google Maps and Search aimed at improving the experience for electric vehicle (EV) owners. As more people embrace electric cars for their environmental benefits, one of the key challenges they face is finding nearby charging stations, especially during longer journeys. To address this issue, Google Maps is rolling out innovative features to assist EV drivers in locating the closest charging points.

In a recent blog post, Google detailed these new features, which include AI-powered summaries to help users pinpoint charging stations with precision, even in complex environments like multi-level parking lots. These summaries, derived from user reviews, offer detailed instructions for navigating to charging points, making it easier for EV owners to find them, particularly in unfamiliar areas.

Moreover, Google Maps will now suggest charging stops along planned routes for users embarking on long trips based on their car’s battery level. This update, slated to arrive soon, will benefit cars equipped with Google’s built-in system.

In addition to enhancements in Google Maps, Google is also catering to electric vehicle travellers through Google Search. A new EV filter on google.com/travel will allow users to find hotels with on-site EV charging stations, simplifying road trip planning by providing accommodation options with charging facilities directly through Google Search.
