From Silicon Chips to Satellite Wars: Groq and Anthropic Raise the Stakes

The ripple effects of defense innovation aren’t confined to space. Down on Earth, two major players in the AI hardware and software space, Groq and Anthropic, are raising eye-popping sums in a race to power the next wave of intelligent systems, some of which will undoubtedly support military infrastructure.

Groq, led by ex-Google engineer Jonathan Ross, is reportedly raising $600 million at a $6 billion valuation, just months after scoring a $2.8 billion valuation in 2024. The startup’s chips are already powering large AI deployments, including partnerships with Bell Canada and Meta.
