New Delhi: Moscow presented its tourism potential within the framework of the session Tourism in Russia: Focus on People, Sustainability and Investment Attractiveness at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). At the event, special attention was paid to the work on increasing the tourist flow from friendly countries. The participants also discussed the specifics of receiving foreign guests in Moscow.
Since March this year, tourists from India can get tourist visas to Russia for up to six months based on a hotel or other accommodation reservation. In addition, an electronic visa for entry into the Russian Federation is scheduled to be launched in mid-July, which will stimulate an increase in tourist traffic from India.
«India is one of Moscow’s significant partners in hospitality, and we are interested in developing our relations. We see great interest from Indian tourists in the capital – according to last year’s results, India was among the leading countries in terms of the number of tourists from non-CIS countries visiting the capital. At the same time, business visits are one of the most popular travel goals for Indian visitors», — noted Evgeniy Kozlov, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Moscow Mayor and Government, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Moscow.
A study tour to Moscow is planned for representatives of the Indian tourism industry in August. The visit will include inspections of the capital’s key sites and tourism infrastructure, as well as business negotiations between Moscow and Indian tour companies.
