New Delhi: India’s aviation industry is expected to add 80 wide-body planes to its existing fleet of 120 planes by 2025-2030, according to Vikram Rai, GE Aviation’s country head for South Asia and Indonesia. Rai stated that the demand for wide-body planes would reach 200 by the end of the decade. Out of the current 120 planes, 50 are operational, and airlines have ordered another 70 planes. This means that an additional 80 wide-body planes need to be added to meet the expected demand.

Rai noted that the growth of airlines in India is closely tied to the development of wide-body operations. All airlines are aware of this fact, and they are investing heavily in expanding their fleet to meet the demand for wide-body planes. Over the next decade, Indian carriers are expected to require approximately 2,000 narrow body aircraft, further increasing the demand for aircraft in the country.

To meet the growing demand for aircraft in India, GE Aviation has invested about $200 million in a multi-modal facility located in Pune. The facility sources components for GE’s global supply chain and has developed about 13 suppliers within India. The investment in this facility underscores GE’s commitment to India’s aviation industry and its potential for growth in the coming years.

India’s aviation industry has seen significant growth in recent years, with passenger traffic increasing at a rapid pace. This growth has led to a corresponding increase in the demand for aircraft, particularly wide-body planes, which are essential for long-haul flights. As India’s economy continues to grow, the demand for air travel is expected to increase further, making it an attractive market for aircraft manufacturers and suppliers.

In conclusion, the Indian aviation industry is expected to add 80 wide-body planes to its fleet by 2025-2030 to meet the growing demand for air travel. The growth of airlines in India is closely tied to the development of wide-body operations, and all airlines are investing heavily in expanding their fleet to meet this demand. With the country’s economy continuing to grow, the demand for air travel is expected to increase, making India an attractive market for aircraft manufacturers and suppliers.
