Why is Nita Ambani’s reaction to a Mumbai Indians joke going viral?

New Delhi: In the scrapbook of a happy moment in the classroom, a student at the Dhirubhai Ambani International School made a funniest of all witty remarks about Mumbai Indians’ IPL team, which led to Nita Ambani bursting out laughing at the graduation ceremony.

The event took place when the Class of 2026 was graduating from the highly esteemed Niti Bazar school in Mumbai which was established by Nita Ambani. Usually the emphasis of a graduation speech is for someone’s life and future goals and is a serious and emotional speech. One student, however, wanted to add some humour when speaking to his fellow students and visitors. It was soon one of the hottest moments of the show, which was shared on many social media platforms.

The head boy in his introduction spoke about the events the students have undergone over the years. When asked about life after school, he compared the tough times to the tussle of Mumbai Indians in the IPL recently. It will be like us loving Mumbai Indians, he said, “whereby there will be tough times.” The comment was hilarious and everyone began to laugh in the auditorium.

Audience response to the dig on the cricket franchise of the Ambani family with Nita Ambani smiling and laughing and covering her face for the unexpected dig was recorded on the cameras. She got a strong response from everyone that had seen her reaction online and many people had commented on how she took the joke in stride.

But the student didn’t end there. He made the speech an inspiring message on resilience and confidence. “Life isn’t always easy – and success doesn’t occur overnight,” he said. He spoke of the numerous times people ask themselves during downtimes, “What happened to me?”, but mentioned that they should know that when they reflect on themselves and their core beliefs, nothing such would occur.

Talking about the Mumbai Indians, the student recalled that it makes people realize “to never forget their legacies and the people who lift them up. Then, he concluded the segment in the well-known slogan of the franchise “Duniya Hila Denge Hum” which again garnered the applause of the participants. After the speech, Nita Ambani could be seen clapping heartily.

PV Sindhu, Olympic medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Badminton also graced the event as chief guest of the occasion. The ceremony was run by the students, saw faculty and alumni speeches and marked the end of the students’ efforts. The event was attended by students, faculty, and alumni members who spoke about the achievements of the students and gave them a sense of pride in their accomplishments.

Videos of the ceremony were uploaded to the web soon after and the student’s confidence as well as the timing of her comics was promoted in the comments. A more number of people liked Nita Ambani’s reply, which is graceful and sporting. In that case, it seemed the student’s comment went down a treat even among Mumbai Indians fans as some joked that even the ‘naheja fans’ would agree to the comment as it was their team’s tough IPL season this year.
