New Delhi: One of the latest posts is going viral on social media. A post by a founder of a startup on the reality of building a business has been catalyzed with the broader discourse on the topic online, by placing the focus on the importance of sales and its contribution to early-stage startups.
Yogini Bende, on X where she stated, Sales is the worst thing I have done as a founder. She also explained how she approached friends in sales to know how to process better, and inquired, “How do you do this? What is your trick to keep it? What do you do with a no? What do you do when someone says no?
Then she first thought that she could get somebody to do sales but changed her mind after talking to other founders and business men. In its early days sales is the work of a founder. Whatever it may be, unpleasant as it may be. And long was it ere she could believe that.
The founder also admitted that the experience has changed her views of the occupation. To all salespeople, she said, hats off, I respect and admire you more than I did before.
She also mentioned the emergence of AI tools, she added, “And when Claude steals my engineering job, I will at least have sales to rely on. So silver lining. AI vs human guided selling. One of the users claimed that the challenge of selling could be influenced by the level of knowledge of the product by stating that having good knowledge in the domain would lead to sales being more of an advisory conversation rather than persuasion.
