New Delhi: The headlines are dominated by an IIT Bombay alumni who has mentioned one of the reasons he chose to walk away from a lucrative job in Silicon Valley to get into the Indian startup ecosystem. He has since become a source of inspiration for thousands of young Indians online who want to do something of their own rather than follow the traditional path of corporate jobs.
Earlier, the entrepreneur, Aman Goel, co-founder of GreyLabs AI, posted on social media about his stint with the cloud-based data management firm Rubrik in the U.S. With his internship, he reportedly made almost Rs 7.6 lakh in just a few months. Many students would have had a successful career overseas starting there. However, Aman’s experience altered his perspective all together.
Aman has adapted to Silicon Valley and realised that he didn’t want to spend his life building someone else’s dream. Rather, he desired to move back to India and establish companies which can address the practical issues here. He thought India is really into companies and fresh ideas and he wanted to be part of the India story.
It was not simple to decide he had to choose between being his boss and having a regular job with a good salary. Starting his business, in India meant he would have to deal with a lot of uncertainty and stress and work very long hours for his own India business.
But Aman felt that he should take the risk and work in the Indian scenario and devoted himself to the creation of businesses in India. In the long run, it proved to be a good choice. This entrepreneurial journey is said to have helped him create a business worth almost Rs 100 crore which thus turned his bold step into an inspiring success story.
The incident fast spread on internet and numerous people commended his courage and confidence. His move was termed “motivating” by several people as it reflects the attitude of the young Indians to go beyond the foreign jobs and earn a lot of money. Others claimed that his path has demonstrated that sometimes it isn’t the easiest route to success.
Meanwhile, plenty of startup owners available online also noted that entrepreneurship isn’t a glamorous career. In recent times, a number of graduates of IITs have written about the fortresses of the start-up ecosystem, particularly when it comes to having less resources and/or network. Even with the struggles stories like Aman Goels give young entrepreneurs hope that they can make their ideas real and take big steps.
Today people see Amans journey as more, than a business success story.
It’s a reminder to many young professionals that sometimes they can do something risky and follow a bigger purpose and get extraordinary results.
