New Delhi: The YouTube and podcast star Ranveer Allahbadia, better known as BeerBiceps, is facing one of the biggest storms of his career after a shocking remark on comedian Samay Raina’s roast show India’s Got Latent.
The flashpoint? A crude and highly inappropriate “Would you rather” question to a contestant:
“Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life, or join in once and stop it forever?”
What was meant to be an edgy roast moment instead turned into a national outrage, sparking police complaints, political criticism, and even a direct warning from a former WWE wrestler.
Now, roasts have always been about pushing boundaries, but in this case, Ranveer didn’t just tiptoe near the line, he sprinted past it. Comedy thrives on discomfort, yes, but this wasn’t wit; it was shock for shock’s sake. And when millions are watching, especially young fans, the fallout was inevitable.
Enter Saurav Gurjar, the former WWE powerhouse who wrestled as “Sanga” in Indus Sher.
In a video, he threatened Ranveer with the threat of “no security can save him” if the two ever encounter each other in Mumbai. Gurjar deemed the statement “vulgar and unacceptable” and exhorted the government to act strictly, adding that such material taints the moral fiber of society.
Gurjar is not some celebrity with an opinion, he’s a sportsperson, an actor, and a public figure, from WWE’s international platform to Mahabharat’s Bheem. His outburst struck a chord with people who believe the internet culture is making it okay to make disgusting, extreme jokes.
The outrage snowballed so fast that even the top brass intervened.
- Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis reminded everyone that “freedom of speech ends where you encroach on others’ freedom.”
- Former NCW chief and current Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma criticized the comment as an indicator of deteriorating moral standards among young people.
Police complaints were made in various states, ranging from Maharashtra to Assam. Mumbai Police even reached Ranveer’s Versova residence but found it locked. He has been asked to report to Khar police station but asked for statements to be recorded at his residence for security purposes.
Ranveer has not directly responded to Gurjar’s ultimatum, but his lawyers are acting quickly. They are moving for relief against several FIRs, even going to the Supreme Court. He is silent for the moment, and the police search continues on.
