New Delhi: Sonam Parekh, an Indian tech professional, is at the centre of a storm in Silicon Valley after being accused of moonlighting or quietly working for multiple startups simultaneously, all without disclosing this to the companies involved. This controversy erupted after Suhail Doshi, co-founder and former CEO of analytics platform Mixpanel, took to X to call out Sohan Parekh’s alleged actions.
Suhail Doshi claimed that Soham Parekh has been simultaneously involved with three to four early-stage startups, misleading the founders and teams who had no idea he was dividing his time and loyalty elsewhere. Doshi said that 90% of his resume appears fake, and most of the links are now gone. I also want to say that I tried to talk sense into this guy, explain the impact, and give him a chance to turn over a new leaf, because sometimes that’s what a person needs. But it didn’t work.
The engineer, who relocated to the US in 202 after initially planning to start graduate school in 2018, said his financial situation forced him to abandon his academic plans. When asked about the potential contract violations, Parekh acknowledged his actions weren’t defensible but emphasised they stemmed from desperation, not malicious intent.
Soham Parekh attributed his actions to severe financial circumstances rather than greed. I was in extremely dire economic circumstances, he explained in the interview. Despite the public backlash, Soham Parekh announced securing an exclusive founding engineer position at an AI video startup. Earlier today, I signed an exclusive founding deal to be the founding engineer at a single company. He posted on X. They were the only ones willing to bet on me at this time.
