New Delhi: Xiaomi has officially unveiled its Xiaomi Watch 5 during the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2026. It features a 1.54-inch display with thin bezels, and it is protected by sapphire glass on both front and back. This smartwatch is powered by a dual-chip architecture comprising the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and BES2800 co-processor.
It runs on Google’s Wear OS 6, bringing application ecosystem support and Google Gemini capabilities that allow hands-free assistance for everyday tasks, information, and navigation.
Xiaomi has not yet announced the launch date or any pricing details of the Xiaomi Watch 5 for India. Xiaomi typically launches the smartwatches in India under the Redmi banner. It is possible that Xiaomi Watch 5 might be rebranded as the Redmi product for Indian buyers. They have also introduced the Electric Scooter 6 series, the UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000mAh 15W, Xiaomi Tag, and Redmi Buds 8 Pro.
It also houses a 930mAh battery with 10% silicon-carbon content, supported by its Surge Battery technology. Xiaomi smartwatch can deliver up to six days of battery life in smart mode and up to 18 days in power saver mode. It runs on Wear OS 6 by providing access to Google applications such as Google Calendar, Google Play, and Google Maps.
It is also going to support Google Wallet with NFC for contactless payments. It is the first Xiaomi smartwatch to ship with Google Gemini pre-installed, allowing voice-based assistance for tasks, navigation, and information without requiring users to pick up their devices.
Health and fitness features include one-tap health checks, training insights, and dual-band GNSS support for outdoor tracking and offline maps. The watch also supports gesture controls powered by Electromyography, Inertial Measurement Unit, and Photoplethysmography sensors.
Xiaomi has also stated that users can perform actions through two standard gestures, Pinch Twice and Rub Twice, and three custom gestures, including Snap Fingers, Shake Wrist, and Rotate Wrist.
It can be used to dismiss calls, silence alarms, start workouts, control the device camera remotely, or access applications such as Google Gemini, Google Wallet, and YouTube Music. The device also supports cross-device features via Xiaomi HyperConnect and Xiaomi Smart Hub.
