New Delhi: Microsoft has recently introduced a handful of its latest features, which are coming soon to the Notepad and Paint applications on Windows 11, designed to enhance the experience for people who frequently use these applications. Notepad is gaining the latest markdown capabilities. It is gaining additional syntax features such as strikethrough formatting and nested lists. Markdown shortcuts will work as users expect, but users can also use the formatting toolbar at the top to achieve the desired formatting effects.
In addition to the Markdown enhancements, Notepad is also gaining a latest Welcome Experience popup that will appear when the latest features are added to the application. Notepad is updated so frequently with the changes and enhancements these days; this will be handy for those who want to stay on top of what’s new. Microsoft stated that the ability to generate text in Notepad should appear faster thanks to streaming text, which will type out the generated response live, so that results appear faster.
For Paint, Microsoft comes with the latest Coloring Book feature that uses the on-board NPU on Copilot+ PCs to generate drawing outlines that are designed to be colored in. To get started, open the Paint and select the Coloring book option from the Copilot menu. Once the side panel is open, type in the description of the colouring book users want to create and hit the Generate button. Paint will then generate a set of unique colouring book pages based on the user’s prompt.
Paint is also gaining a latest fill tolerance function, which lets the users adjust how strongly the fill tool actually fills a section of the canvas. Users can adjust the strength, lowering it so that the fill tool doesn’t fill as much of the space users selected. These latest features are rolling out now for Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channel, and will be made available to all Windows 11 users in the coming weeks.
