New Delhi: Perplexity is slowly and steadily rolling out its Comet browser for the different platforms, and a lot of Perplexity premium users got access to their browser recently. Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas has asked iPhone users not to download the Comet application from the Apple App Store, but now there are many questions raised by iPhone users about why not to download the Comet browser. The reason behind it is very unexpected because the CEO has taken this step because the application hosted on the Apple App Store is a fake one, which means there is a fake Comet browser on the Apple App Store.
Aravind Srinivas took it to the X platform, where he wrote that, “The Comet application, which is currently on the iOS App Store, is a fake one and spam and not from Perplexity. Users will directly hear from us when the Comet is ready for pre-registration and downloading.” The warning has served as a stark reminder of how scammers don’t leave a single opportunity to drop the fake stuff on these stores and target naïve people who don’t have a keen look at the developer and other details of these applications.
Comet browser is gaining much popularity all over the globe and is being hailed as the real competitor against Apple’s own Safari browser. The Android version of the Comet browser has already made a mark in the market and is getting positive feedback from most users. Only paid subscribers were enabled to access the Comet browser, but in a recent move, Perplexity dropped the browser for free to users based on invitation.
