New Delhi: So finally, after all these rumors and claims, it is now official that Tim Cook is stepping down as CEO of Apple from September 1, and after stepping down, John Ternus will take the lead as the new CEO of the company.
By capping a 15-year tenure that has turned Apple into a $4 trillion business spanning watches, video streaming, and financial services. On September 1, John Ternus will become CEO, and then Tim Cook will transition to the executive chairman of Apple.
John Ternus has served as the head of hardware engineering since 2021 and has spent over 25 years focused on product development at the iPhone maker. After John Ternus, the hardware engineering division will be taken over by longtime deputy Tom Marieb.
He will report to the new Chief Hardware Officer, Johny Srouji. In this role, Johny Srouji is overseeing the newly combined hardware engineering and hardware technologies group.
John Ternus must now navigate the new path for one of Silicon Valley’s most storied businesses at a challenging moment. Apple’s growth has remained very strong; the company has struggled to catch up in AI technology, but it claims to transform the way consumers use devices.
Tim Cook’s new executive chairman role will involve engaging with policymakers around the world. The 65-year-old CEO has already overseen Apple’s relationship with the US President Donald Trump and often travels to China to manage the company’s ties with that country.
John Ternus has a strong belief in AI and reorganized the hardware engineering division this month to operate with the latest AI platform, specially designed to help with product development and improving device quality.
Upcoming CEO has been leading the charge on the trio of latest AI-aimed wearables and latest home devices: the upcoming latest AirPods, smart glasses, and a pendant with built-in cameras.
