New Delhi: WhatsApp has recently started testing its latest feature, which is going to improve call quality with the latest noise cancellation feature for voice and video calls. This feature is now available to a limited number of Android beta users, and it is expected to be extended gradually by focusing on reducing background noise during conversations.
Additionally, it could be particularly useful for users who frequently take calls in noisy surroundings, as it aims to filter out ambient sounds without affecting the speaker’s voice.
The company is unveiling a built-in noise cancellation option that automatically filters out unwanted background sounds. This also includes common disturbances like traffic noise, wind, or chatter in crowded places. The system also works in real time, by ensuring that the speaker’s voice remains much clear while minimizing distractions.
The main aim is to make the users conversations sound more natural and easier to understand, without requiring the users to adjust settings or use external tools manually.
Some Android beta users can now see the latest option in the calling interface that enables them to allow or manage noise cancellation. The feature is allowed by default, so it will automatically activate when the call begins, whether it is a voice or video call.
The technology identifies surrounding noise and removes it while keeping the speaker’s voice much clearer. It works on an individual basis. Turning on noise cancellation helps other users hear better, while the user’s call quality depends on whether the other person has it enabled too, enabling the users to turn the feature off if they are not satisfied with how it affects audio.
