watchOS 26.2 arrives: Apple refines sleep tracking and safety features

New Delhi: Apple has recently released its watchOS 26.2, by introducing refined sleep score classifications and Enhanced Safety Alerts for Apple Watch users. This latest update arrives approximately five weeks after the watchOS 26.1 and requires an iPhone running iOS 26.2. The most significant change updates the Sleep Score grading system, renaming the top score from Excellent to Very High and adjusting various score ranges.

The revised classifications better reflect how the users actually feel after rest, addressing previous concerns that the scores were too generous. The latest ranges expand lower scoring categories. Very Low now covers 0-40 points instead of 0-29, while Very High applies to scores of 96-100. The update maintains the same underlying metrics, Duration, Bedtime, and Interruptions, but adjusts ranges for Very Low, Low, OK, High, and Very High sleep score results.

Enhanced Safety Alerts can now inform users about imminent threats, such as floods, natural disasters, and other emergencies, with rich information, like a map of affected areas and links to additional safety guidance. The features are currently available only in the United States. Apple also resolved the persistent bug where the Music application failed to advance to the next song, a fix that users have long requested. Users can download watchOS 26.2 through the Apple Watch application on iPhone under General > Software Update. The watch requires at least 50% battery and must remain on its charger during the installation. All Apple Watch models supporting watchOS 26 are eligible for the update.
