New Delhi: Vivo has taken the X Fold 6 outside China. The foldable launched in its home market earlier, and the international version was announced on October 1 with, as far as the spec sheet shows, no major changes.
The headline hardware is the camera. There is a 200-megapixel main sensor with OIS and ZEISS T* coating sits alongside a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom. Vivo also stated that this device can record 4K 60fps Dolby Vision video and a 100x “HyperZoom” mode. That last number is the kind you’ll see in marketing, not the kind you’ll use often. There’s a 20MP selfie camera on both the inner and cover screens.
Then there’s the battery. At 6,900mAh it’s large for any phone, never mind one that folds. It charges at 80W wired and 40W wireless.
Vivo’s thinness claim is where it gets interesting. In the Prism Black version the phone measures 4.4mm unfolded and weighs 228 grams. The Horizon Blue model is a bit chunkier at 4.8mm and 235 grams. So the thinnest figure only applies to one colour, which is worth knowing before you fixate on it. Dust and water protection is thorough, with IP58, IP59, IPX8 and IPX9 ratings.
Both displays are LTPO AMOLED with 1-120Hz refresh, Dolby Vision and up to 5,000 nits peak brightness. The inner screen is 8.02 inches at 2,504 x 2,312, and the cover screen is 6.51 inches at 2,528 x 1,120.
Inside, it runs MediaTek’s 3nm Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. Software is OriginOS 7 Fold on Android 17. Vivo is leaning on multitasking tools like Multi-Task Workbench, Multi-Split Screen and AI Cross-App Drag. It also lists an AI Meeting Assistant, AI File Manager, AI Reader Mode and its Jovi AI agent. The pitch is clearly aimed at professionals who want a pocketable work device.
What’s missing is the part most buyers care about. Vivo hasn’t announced international pricing or which markets get the phone. The company says both will be revealed market by market, and that configurations will differ by region. Until then, the global launch is more of a heads-up than something you can buy.
Foldables at this level rarely come cheap, so the price will decide whether the spec list matters.
