Vivo X500 series could change the smartphone camera game with next-level imaging technology

New Delhi: Vivo is planning to move smartphone photography and videography to a new A-level with its upcoming X500 series of smartphones, which will be confirmed to launch in China in September 2026. The new lineup will feature the Vivo X500, Vivo X500 Pro and Vivo X500 Pro Max, with special emphasis on the camera.

This continued the trend of Vivo with its Vivo X300 series, making it one of the strongest teams in the smartphone camera industry. Its great photo capabilities demonstrated that the power of smartphone cameras was becoming more and more comparable to dedicated cameras. But now, the X500 series seems to be going even further with this concept.

One of the most shocking features might be focused on dynamic range as well as video recording capabilities. Vivo X500 Pro series should also be equipped with the new 50MP BluePrint Guangyu 900 sensor that has been co-developed by Vivo’s imaging research and development team and Sony. Vivo says the camera achieves up to 17EV of dynamic range (DR), which would let the smartphones capture much more detail of both the bright highlights and the dark areas.

Vivo, however, is not taking time off from photography. Vivo X500 Pro series is reportedly capable of 4K 240fps slow-motion recording and 4K 120fps HDR video, potentially making the phones much more attractive to filmmakers, content creators and mobile videographers. Vivo’s main camera is also likely to be equipped with 3-degree optical image stabilization and will be said to be gimbal level stabilized.

The 200MP periscope telephoto camera on the higher-end X500 Pro Max, should it become available, could make the camera duel even more intriguing. In conjunction with the advanced stabilization and strong camera processing, Vivo could approach the level of camera performance of the best cameraphones available from Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi and others.

The X500 series is interesting in particular because Vivo seems to be more than just making an attempt at megapixels. Rather than that, it appears the company is focusing on the things that really count in real world photography; dynamic range, stabilization, zoom and video quality.

With Vivo hitting the mark here, the X500 series could make others rethink their camera game plans. Smartphone cameras have become more than just ‘who has the most megapixels’; they’re now getting ready to become ‘who can make the most professional video from a smartphone?’

Vivo’s X500 series could thus be more than just another Smartphone launch after its impressive X300 line. It may be a new giant leap towards making the smartphone a legitimate camera and video shooter.
