New Delhi: Vivo has unveiled V80, the latest phone in its V series in India. The headline spec is the battery, 7,200mAh, a whole lot of battery for a phone this large. Display is only 6.59-inches wide.
The display is an AMOLED panel of up to 144Hz refresh rate and Full-HD+ resolution, according to Vivo. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset is located under the hood. The phone comes preloaded with – OriginOS 7 on Android 17, something that makes it one of the first handsets to ship with OriginOS 7.
But Vivo is putting its marketing emphasis on the cameras. The back has three tuned ones with Zeiss. The primary one is an optical stabilisation, 50MP Sony LYT 700V with autofocus while the secondary is a 30MP Sony Cyber-shot DSLR-L with optical stabilisation. Both can shoot 4K video, including 4K at 60 frames per second. To its side is a 50MP Sony IMX882 telephoto outfitted with OIS and 3x optical zoom. The third is an 8MP ultrawide. That isn’t a telephoto that you generally find in all other places; that’s worth noting. There’s another 50MP shooter of its own in the front, also with auto-focus.
Charging via a wire is at 90W. The in-display fingerprint scanner and dust and water resistance rating of (IP69) are also included on the phone. Connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC and eSIM.
Body consists from an Aluminium frame and Glass back. With a 7.79mm thickness and a 210g weight, the large battery is noticeable on the scales. The colors are Horizon Blue, Stellar Black and Sunrise Anthem.
The price will be what buyers will “chew on”. The 8GB/128GB version costs ₹62,999. Step up to 8GB/256GB and it’s ₹69,999, and the 8GB/512GB model is ₹79,999. This is a high amount considering it’s not a flagship chipset. Whether or not the camera hardware and battery is worth it is a matter of actual usage that we haven’t tried yet.
