New Delhi: Vivo officially announced that the next software major update for its smartphones will be called OriginOS 7 which will be released on September 16. The new operating system will be Android 17, which will be offered in the company’s annual developer conference (VDC) in China.
OriginOS 7 will be a major appearance of visual difference from the current OriginOS 6. Vivo is now dribbling some of the new features in advance of the launch. One of the most significant differences will be the new glass-like appearance, enhanced by elements that are transparent, lighting and more fluid animations. This method is dubbed the “Liquid Glass” style by the company.
In the same context, those who have a tendency to tweak their phones will also get new options for customisation. The integration of Liquid Themes for the lock screen, Flash Card Themes and a system-wide sticker library are to be expected and will be introduced by Vivo. These features will enable users to render their lockscreens, wallpapers and other elements of the UI to be more personal.
OriginOS 7 also emphasizes on performance. Vivo claims that its new rendering technology, Virtual GPU 4.0 and Blue River, can enhance the graphics rendering up to 14% over OriginOS 6.0. The company also states that apps are able to launch 12% quicker, and page switching response may be enhanced by as much as 19%. According to Vivo, the interface animation and screen rendering power consumption can also be lowered by about 20%.
There’s another interesting item: Storage Compression 2.0. Vivo says this technology will help free up up to 20GB of space on the phone which has 256GB internal storage, as it will handle system data more efficiently. Atomic Workbench is another feature that will be included in the update and is set to enhance the multitasking and productivity on regular smartphones.
Vivo will also be launching BlueOS 4 at the event on September 16 along with OriginOS 7. This is a platform that is aimed at smartwatches, smart-home products and other connected devices.
Vivo is likely to unveil more information about the smartphones it will support and the launch date during the event. Also expected to be released later this month is the company’s upcoming X500 series, which may be crucial to its new devices, and in addition, there’s OriginOS 7.
