New Delhi: Many might not know this, but Google played a big part in creating the first versions of popular Android apps like Twitter. Sara Beykpour, who used to work at Twitter and now co-founded Particle, a news startup, spilled the beans on a podcast with Michael Mignano.
She said Google made a demo version of the Twitter app for Android and gave it to Twitter to help promote Android. After that, Twitter took over making the app. Beykpour was one of the early folks working on it.
Even though Google wrote about this in a blog back in 2010, most people didn’t catch on, so it kinda got lost in the shuffle. Beykpour also talked about her time at Twitter, including her work on projects like Vine and Periscope, and how it’s influencing her work at Particle.
Particle is trying to change how people read news by giving them different angles and top-notch journalism. They’re also trying to find new ways to make money from news that go beyond ads or subscriptions. Right now, they’re talking with news outlets to figure out fair ways to pay them for their work.
