New Delhi: Apple has launched the “Apple Watch for Kids” in India, bringing new features designed to help parents stay connected with their children while giving kids some independence. This feature is available on Apple Watch SE and Series 4 models or later.
Key Features:
Communication: Kids can make calls and send messages to contacts approved by their parents.
Health and Fitness: Personalized activity goals help encourage exercise, and features like Emergency SOS offer extra safety.
Location Tracking: Parents can track their child’s location using the Find People app and set up alerts for specific locations.
App Store Access: Kids can download age-appropriate apps from the App Store, with parental controls to keep things safe.
Schooltime Mode: This mode limits distractions during school hours by restricting app access and turning on Do Not Disturb.
How It Works:
Parents set up the Apple Watch for their child using their own iPhone and a separate cellular plan for the watch. The child will have their own Apple ID to access features like Calendar, Reminders, and photo albums synced from the parent’s iPhone.
Parental Controls:
Contact Management: Parents decide which contacts their kids can communicate with.
Content Restrictions: Parents can control which apps can be downloaded and set limits through Content Restrictions and Ask to Buy.
Health Data Access: With permission, parents can see their child’s health and activity data through the Health app on their iPhone.
Availability:
The Apple Watch for Kids is available in India for cellular models of Apple Watch Series 4 and later, and Apple Watch SE. You’ll need an iPhone 6s or newer for the initial setup, and a wireless plan from Jio is required for cellular service.
