Spotify patches glitch that disrupted Premium experience

New Delhi: Spotify has officially stated that, recently, they have resolved a problem that was making some Premium users to hear advertisements and have their accounts labeled as Free on the app. They have already verified the fix following reports by various users that their paid subscriptions were not working as anticipated.

The problem was in the fact that Premium subscribers were shown adverts in between songs, and at the same time, the app was showing their accounts to be on the free power. The overview of the account still depicted an active Premium plan, which caused incongruence throughout the platform.

Spotify acknowledged the problem earlier by noting that it had received reports from users experiencing this behavior and that it was investigating the issue. The glitch has been appearing to affect the growth of the number of users over time, with complaints surfacing on the platform like X and DownDetector.

This problem has been fixed by adding that users who continue to face this issue should try signing out and back into their accounts to restore normal functionality.

Spotify has recently unveiled a new feature called Taste Profile, which focuses on giving users more visibility and control over how the platform interprets their listening habits. This latest feature also enables users to review and adjust preferences such as genres, artists, and listening patterns, and even correct recommendations if they feel inaccurate.

It also takes into account contextual behavior, like the time of day or activity, to refine the suggestions. Spotify has plans to roll out to Premium users in New Zealand first for the wider release.
