Spotify levels up podcast discovery with Prompted Playlists

New Delhi: Spotify’s Prompted Playlist tool is now going to work for podcasts, after introducing its feature for music earlier this year. This is an AI-powered feature that Spotify has unveiled for its application. It lets users use natural language, or prompts, to describe what they are looking for in a playlist, and the algorithm does the rest automatically.

The platform also stated that the tool is a good match for the podcasts, as the listeners can use it to discover their latest favorite show or dive deeper into the topic or piece of culture.

Spotify also adds that the algorithm generates playlists based on both the prompt and the person’s listening history, alongside what is happening in the world.

Spotify also offers several examples of the kinds of prompts that could be used to generate a podcast playlist, which also include the user asking the bot to build a playlist all about science and innovation, and another with the biggest entertainment news from the past few days.

The tool unlocks powerful new opportunities for creators. It can recommend older episodes from the back catalog by offering them a little boost.
