New Delhi: Google has introduced Search Live with voice input in its Google applications, as well as on Android and iOS. Available in the United States for users enrolled in the AI Mode experiment in Labs, users can now have a free-flowing, back-and-forth voice conversation with Search and explore links from across the web.
This is amazing for users on the go or multitasking, such as when packing for a trip. Open the Google applications, tap the new Live icon, and ask questions verbally, for example, ‘What are some tips for preventing a linen dress from wrinkling in a suitcase?’ The user will hear a helpful AI-generated audio response, and they can easily follow up with another question in this Live mode.
The Search Live feature operates in the background, enabling users to continue the conversation seamlessly while in another application. Want to explore even more? Tap the transcript button to view the text response and continue to ask the questions by typing. If users want to revisit a Search Live response, they can pick up where they left off by heading to the user AI Mode history.
This Search Live in AI Mode utilises a custom version of Gemini, featuring advanced voice capabilities. Their custom model is built on best-in-class search quality and information systems, so users still get reliable, helpful responses no matter where or how they ask their questions. Search Live with the voice also utilises its query fan-out technique to display users a broader and more diverse set of helpful web content, enabling them to explore the latest opportunities.
Users can access Search Live with a new icon directly under the user search bar when they opt into the AI Mode experiment in Labs. In the coming months, they look forward to introducing even more Live capabilities to AI Mode, including using their camera when the user talks back and forth, allowing the user to show Search what they see in real-time.
