Samsung’s One UI 9 is finally reaching Galaxy S26 owners in India, here’s what you get

New Delhi: Samsung has officially started to rolling out its most-awaited and anticipated One UI 9.0, which is originally built on Android 17, to Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra users in India. However, the first wave goes to people which are already in the Beta Program via the Samsung Members app, with the wider release following in stages. Several report claims that the download at roughly 4GB, so connect to Wi-Fi before you tap install.

The timeline is a little slower than the headline suggests. Samsung began the global rollout on September 16 in South Korea, and the US got it about a week later. India and Europe came after that. Samsung’s Indian announcement on X was also a straight copy of its global press release, which is why plenty of people were left wondering where the update actually was.

So what’s in it? The company pitch is fewer steps for everyday tasks, with the more context-aware suggestions and better Galaxy AI. The more concrete additions are easier to the picture.

My FanCam tracks one person in a video and keeps them centered as the scene moves. It’s focused at the concerts and crowded events. Now Brief gets editable cards, so users will decide what shows up in their daily summary. Call Brief puts relevant details on the call screen itself, meaning users don’t have to leave a call to check another applications. Creative Studio can also suggest image ideas tied to upcoming events, like a friend’s birthday. Samsung has also improved translation, scanning and recording.

Security gets some attention too. Samsung is expanding its on-device AI Scam Detection with this stable release.

Battery settings are worth a look after you update. Battery Protection now has three tiers: Basic, Adaptive, and Maximum. Maximum caps charging at 80%, while Adaptive pauses at 80% overnight and finishes just before you wake.

If you own an older flagship, you won’t be waiting forever. The Galaxy S25 series, Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 and Z TriFold have begun getting One UI 9 as well.

To check, go to Settings, then Software update, then Download and install. If it isn’t there yet, give it a few days. Staged rollouts are like that.
