New Delhi: Samsung Electronics has broadened its data centre business by taking the plunge into manufacturing 21st-century HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) products in India, especially for the fast-growing data centres market. It has finished building a new manufacturing plant in Pune, Maharashtra with a capacity to manufacture cooling solutions for AI data centres and other critical infrastructure.
FläktGroup, a Samsung-owned company, run the new facility. The Pune plant is likely to cater to not only Indian customers, but also markets throughout the Asia-Pacific region. As AI and cloud data centres keep growing, the facility will assist Samsung in being more responsive to the specialized cooling systems needed to meet this demand, the company said.
New Pune plant to make AI data centre cooling systems
The new manufacturing plant will spread across approximately 13,826 sq m and be near Mumbai and the major transport infrastructure. Installation of equipment was followed by mass production in six months at the plant, Samsung said.
FläktGroup plans to gradually increase the facility’s production capacity to up to 6,500 HVAC units per year. The products manufactured at Pune plant will be: Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Wall Unit (FWUs) and Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAH). These systems are used in data centres and other large facilities to handle air quality, and temperature.
The high data traffic generated by powerful servers and the AI chips demands a strong cooling system in AI data centres. Therefore, efficient cooling plays a crucial role in maintaining data centres’ reliability and avoiding equipment overheating.
Samsung expands HVAC business after FläktGroup acquisition
The Pune operation is also significant in Samsung’s broader HVAC business operations. It’s also the first new FläktGroup manufacturing plant to operate since Samsung bought the company in November 2025.
The deal was S-Class’s acquisition of FläktGroup, bolstering the company’s presence in the commercial and industrial HVAC market. The company wants to leverage on FläktGroup’s large-scale cooling expertise, Samsung’s technology, AI power and global reach.
FläktGroup already has manufacturing facilities in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The Pune facility will help Samsung enhance its local manufacturing capabilities, thereby contributing to quicker delivery to customers within India and other Asia Pacific markets.
India becomes an important market for AI infrastructure
The transfer is set to take place when India’s data centre market is growing at a rapid pace, propelled by the development of AI, cloud computing, and digital services. India is already one of the major data centre markets in the Asia-Pacific region, creating new demand for power, cooling and other supporting infrastructure.
Samsung has not revealed the amount of investment she’s making in the new Pune facility. The company, however, has recently announced that it will be making AI data centre cooling products locally, indicating its belief that India is a promising market for its expanding HVAC product range.
The new plant will allow Samsung to develop a robust supply chain in India to enhance the company’s manufacturing footprint across the Asia-Pacific region. The company feels that pairing FläktGroup’s cooling know-how with Samsung’s technology capabilities is the perfect match to create and provide next-generation cooling solutions for data centres powered by AI, and other high-growth markets.
