Samsung sets October 21 launch for its much-awaited Android XR headset

New Delhi: Samsung has recently teased the launch of its most rumoured and most awaited mixed reality headset based on the Project Moohan. The South Korean consumer electronics maker is set to shed light on the product at the Worldwide Open Galaxy event, which has been scheduled for October 21 at 10 PM ET and October 22 at 07:30 AM IST. Samsung has stated that the upcoming device has been designed to scale across multiple factors, bringing AI to the centre of immersive, everyday experience. This announcement has been made at a time when Apple is also reported to be gearing up to launch the latest Vision Pro, which is likely to be powered by the M4 chip.

Project Moohan is the groundbreaking first product built for the open and scalable Android XR platform, and it seamlessly blends everyday utility with immersive new experiences. This is where the true potential of the XR comes alive, unlocking a whole new dimension of possibilities. According to some sources, the Project Moohan will be a mixed reality headset and will launch as the Samsung Galaxy XR. It will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Plus Gen 2 processor, capable of delivering 4.3K resolution per eye, with 4K micro-OLED panels offering combined 29 million pixels across both displays, higher than 23 million pixels on Apple’s Vision Pro.

It is also expected to introduce its first-ever tri-fold smartphone in October. There will be a three-part 10-inch OLED display, and it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite. There will be paired up to 16GB RAM and 1TB of storage. There will be a 200MP primary camera sensor with OIS support for stable video recording. There will be a three-part battery with wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. It will run on Android 16-based OneUI 8. This will be the expected launch; it will be a live event.
