Samsung plans to build 2.8 million Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra devices

New Delhi: Samsung has recently teased that they are preparing to manufacture around 2.8 million units of its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, by signaling an strong confidence in demand for its premium foldable lineup. However, the production aims come ahead of Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, 2026, where the Fold 8 series is expected to launch.

Recent reports also suggested that Samsung might debut two book-style foldables: Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Earlier leaks referred to the wider model as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, but the latest reports indicate Samsung could brand the premium version as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

One of the biggest updates expected is Samsung Display’s latest Flex Titanium technology, which includes a significantly less visible display crease. With higher structural rigidity by using a titanium alloy layer. Slimmer display certification and improved durability for repeated folding. It also comes with better power efficiency. The company stated that the technology is based on the lessons learned from the seven generations of Galaxy foldables.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra might sport Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon processor with a triple rear camera setup and faster wired charging than previous Fold models. It also enhanced Galaxy AI-powered multitasking with a thinner hinge mechanism. It comes with improved crease management and a lighter overall design.

Samsung is also preparing to expand its Galaxy AI with features optimized for large-screen productivity. However, the planned production volume indicates Samsung sees significant growth potential in premium foldables. An Ultra branding strategy might also help Samsung better compete with upcoming ultra-premium foldable devices from competitors while differentiating its lineup with clearer segmentation between standard and flagship models.
