New Delhi: Samsung is gearing up to launch its next flagship smartphone series, the Galaxy S25, which will include the standard model, the S25 Plus, and the S25 Ultra. Recent sightings of these models on India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification site suggest that the launch is imminent, with the Galaxy S25 spotted under the model number SM-931B/DS. This marks a progression from last year’s Galaxy S23, which had the model number SM-921B/DS. The Galaxy S25 is expected to be the most compact variant in the lineup, serving as the entry-level option.
The Galaxy S25 series is anticipated to be unveiled during Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event, which is speculated to occur in late January 2024. Reports indicate that this event could take place on January 22 or 23, aligning with Samsung’s strategy to debut new devices in the first half of the year.
All three models in the Galaxy S25 series are rumored to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, succeeding last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. Key specifications expected across these models include:
Display: The standard Galaxy S25 will likely feature a 6.2-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Camera Setup: A triple-lens camera system is anticipated, comprising wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto lenses.
Charging: The devices are expected to support 25W fast charging.
RAM: The standard model may come equipped with 12GB of RAM.
While these details are based on leaks and rumors, they paint a promising picture for Samsung’s upcoming flagship lineup.
Design Changes:
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumored to undergo a significant design overhaul compared to its predecessors. Leaked images suggest that it will feature a flat frame design with rounded corners, moving away from the boxy appearance seen in earlier models. However, it is likely to retain the flat display characteristic of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
At the back, the Ultra model is expected to sport a five-camera setup similar to that of its predecessor but with design cues inspired by the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Additionally, it will reportedly include a built-in S Pen located at the bottom left of the device.
User Interface Enhancements:
Samsung is also set to introduce OneUI 7 with the Galaxy S25 series. This new user interface will be based on Android 15 and is expected to bring several enhancements, including redesigned app icons, an updated camera application, and a revamped Quick Settings interface.
Future Models:
In addition to the standard, Plus, and Ultra models, there are reports suggesting that Samsung may also be developing a fourth variant called the Galaxy S25 Slim. This model is expected to launch later than the others, possibly around mid-2025.
