New Delhi: Samsung India has officially unveiled its latest solid-state drive (SSD), which is called as Samsung 990 SSD. It is available in model: 1TB and 2TB capacities; the latest drive utilizes PCIe 4.0 support and Samsung’s latest NAND technologies. It is positioned as the balanced storage solution focused on gaming, creative professionals, and everyday PC usage. It aims to deliver high sequential and random performance across both capacity variants.
However, the 2TB model achieves sequential read speeds of up to 7,250 MB/s, while the 1TB version reaches up to 7,150 MB/s. Both the capacities share a sequential write speed of up to 6,450 MB/s, specially designed to facilitate quick file transfers and minimize loading times. For random read and write operations, the 2TB model delivers up to 850K IOPS read and 1,200K IOPS write. 1TB variant offers up to 700K IOPS read and 1,100K IOPS write. These metrics are intended to improve the app launch responsiveness and the handling of large-scale data workloads.
Expanded capacity options address to the growing file sizes of modern apps and media. Based on the average file size of 64GB, the 2TB model can accommodate roughly 30 large-scale games, making it suitable for users who are managing substantial digital libraries.
Samsung 990 SSD features a 38% improvement in power efficiency compared to the previous 990 PRO model. The reduction in power consumption enables the drive to sustain high performance levels while optimizing overall energy use. However, the Samsung 990 SSD 1TB model is priced at Rs 25,649, and the 2TB model is priced at Rs 50,349.
