New Delhi: In some recent reports, it has been claimed that Qualcomm is experimenting with two latest versions of the upcoming Snapdragon flagship and a standard model that will support LPDDR5X memory, and a higher-end Pro variant with faster LPDDR6 memory.
Both versions are going to share the same core clock speeds, so the big difference comes down to memory type. However, the Pro model also brings UFS 5.0 storage support, offering it enough power to handle almost anything users can throw at it.
This processor is expected to be the most powerful 2nm Android SoC, aiming at the premium Ultra flagships coming in 2027. It will be manufactured on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process, which might bring solid gains in both performance and battery efficiency compared to the previous generations.
The top-tier Pro versions might cost manufacturers over $300 per unit. Early block diagrams show the usual high-end layout, with the stronger GPU and solid multi-core performance. Users are will see binned versions later, possibly with 7-core CPU setups for different price points.
This dual version strategy feels like a smart response to the rising costs in the premium segment. LPDDR6 models will go after the absolute top-tier buyers, while the LPDDR5X versions might bring near-flagship experiences to a slightly wider audience. The Snapdragon Elite Gen 6 Pro looks to gear up to power the next wave of truly high-end Android phones, balancing the raw power with the practical realities manufacturers are facing currently.
