New Delhi: According to a new report, Qualcomm is likely to launch yet another iteration of its flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip later this year. While the new chip will provide high-end performance, it will also be an excellent alternative for high-end Android smartphones for the smartphone makers.
The coming processor will likely be on the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform, though with a different combination of CPUs, the report indicates. However, the latest version, and on the other hand, is been expected to feature a seven-core design simply with a reorder of the eight cores into a new sequence for the same purpose. The change might allow cellphone manufacturers to construct thinner phones, offer longer battery life, or lower costs, while maintaining comparable performance.
Qualcomm hasn’t officially confirmed the chipset, however, at this time. The company, however, has launched different variants of its flagship chips in the past, which makes the latest rumor appear feasible. Qualcomm’s latest Oryon CPU technology has already brought in significant upgrades for Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in terms of processing power, AI support, gaming, etc., and now it has enhanced the home snapping experience by bringing in a new CMOS sensor.
The new variant is believed to fuel some of the upcoming flagship smartphones of major Android manufacturers. These are likely to be used by manufacturers like OPPO, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Vivo, Honor and more in their high-end smartphones in the coming months.
If the report proves to be true, then the other Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 variant could provide smartphone manufacturers with more flexibility when crafting their upcoming devices. Some brands may place a bigger focus on making their phones thinner, and others may be able to add the chip to cool or make the batteries more efficient.
