New Delhi: POCO seems to be preparing a new smartphone in the name of POCO M8 Power. POCO is seemingly preparing a new device for the mobile segment, which is called the POCO M8 Power. The company has yet to officially release details of the handset, but new information from the HyperOS OS has now emerged, indicating that the device could be launched in India soon. Maybe the upcoming smartphone will be the rebranded and relaunched Redmi Note 17 5G that China has just unveiled.
Well-known Xiaomi tipster Kacper Skrzypek first saw the detail in the new HyperOS firmware, with a new model number, 26021PC18I. It is also evident from the software’s reference that the smartphone will be known as the POCO M8 Power in the future. Notably, the POCO M8 Power is a very similar model number to that of the Redmi Note 17 5G in China (26021RN18C). This has created rumors that the two phones have the same hardware but are customized for local markets such as India by POCO, changing the design and branding. It’s a tactic that Xiaomi has used numerous times before with the presentation of Redmi phones under the POCO brand.
According to the reports, the POCO M8 Power is expected to come with identical specifications as the Redmi Note 17 5G. That phone sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen, which has a 120Hz refresh rate, achieving a smoother scrolling and gaming experience as a result. The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra, which offers excellent performance on day-to-day tasks, multitasking, and gaming.
For shooting photos, the Redmi Note 17 5G boasts a 50MP rear camera with a 2MP depth sensor, whereas the front camera features a 20MP camera sensor for taking photos. With the massive 7,000mAh battery, the device is fast-charged at 45 watts, making it ideal for all those getting through a lot of calls.
For now, POCO hasn’t acknowledged the existence of the M8 power nor shared any plans for it. The HyperOS release of the device, though, implies that an official announcement is not far off. As more leaks become available, they will add more information such as pricing, launch dates, and whether there will be any market-specific changes made before its release.
With competitive pricing, the POCO M8 Power could be another great device in the budget and mid-range smartphone category for consumers seeking a large battery, an AMOLED display with smoothness, and consistent performance. In the meantime, all the specifications provided should be considered unofficial until officially announced by POCO.
