New Delhi: Recently, OpenAI has reported they are gearing up to release its first consumer hardware product, and it is not going to be a smartphone. Rather than, OpenAI states that they are designing a portable, screenless AI-powered smart speaker which is specially designed to function as a personal AI companion.
It is expected to feature without a screen, by relying primarily on natural voice interactions. It is likely to use OpenAI’s new GPT-Live conversational voice technology for real-time, human-like conversations.
Cameras and onboard sensors will be used to help the speaker understand its surroundings and offer context-aware responses. Unlike traditional smart speakers, it is expected to include a rechargeable battery, enabling users to carry it from room to room. One of the major unusual rumored features is the inclusion of moving mechanical elements, which makes the device appear more expressive and lifelike during the interactions. The speaker might gradually learn users’ preferences by accessing personal information, by allowing proactive indication, and by enabling more personalized conversations.
AI speaker might going to support smart home control, playing music and media, answering questions through ChatGPT, reading and responding to messages, offering proactive reminders and suggestions, and context-aware conversations by using cameras and sensors.
However, the hardware is being developed with input from former Apple executives and designers associated with LoveFrom, the design firm founded by Jony Ive. OpenAI has not officially confirmed these details, so specs, pricing, and release timing remain undisclosed.
