New Delhi: Nothing has finally taken the wraps off the Headphone (1) Pro, its new flagship over-ear pair, after a run of teasers that made it hard to pretend this was a surprise. The headline is a triple-driver setup. A 40mm dynamic driver handles bass, a second dynamic driver covers the middle, and an xMEMS driver with a silicone diaphragm takes care of treble. That’s an unusual arrangement at this level, and it’ll be interesting to see how it sounds once people get them on their heads.
Noise cancellation gets a serious bump too. There are ten microphones in total working on ANC, and Nothing claims up to 46 dB of noise reduction. That’s a maximum figure, so treat it like any other spec-sheet number until reviewers put it through real commutes.
The design looks a lot like the original Headphone (1), with a few changes. The outside of each cup is now glass, and it’s scratch resistant. Titanium and an aluminium frame keep the weight at 327g, which isn’t feather-light but seems reasonable given the materials. Nothing says the padding is thicker, the cushions softer, and the headband 10% wider. The cups are more flexible as well. It’s all aimed at comfort, which matters a lot more than people admit on a pair you’ll wear for hours. There’s an IP52 rating, tactile switches, and a Switch button that toggles a Flat EQ.
On the audio side, you get Dynamic Spatial Audio with head tracking. Modes include Standard, Live House, Club, and Concert Hall, plus one based on Metropolis Studios’ Studio B. The headphones are Hi-Res Audio certified and handle AAC, SBC, LDAC, and LC3.
Connectivity runs on Bluetooth 6.1, with Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair, and quick setup on Apple devices. Dual connection, a low-latency mode, and auto-wear detection are all in. The 1,060mAh battery is rated for up to 30 hours with ANC on and 68 hours with it off. USB-C fast charging is supported.
Black and White are the two colors, and a padded carrying case comes in the box. The details I’ve seen don’t mention pricing or a release date, which is the part most buyers will want to know next.
