New Delhi: Nothing’s sub-brand CMF recently announced that it has begun the public rollout of Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16 to the CMF Phone 1 and CMF Phone 2 Pro users in India. The Nothing OS 4.0 update will be rolled out over the coming days in phases, starting with the CMF Phone 1. The CMF Phone 2 Pro will also follow at the beginning of January, the London-based tech company stated.
The UI has been refined across the system, with updated components, refreshed status bar icons, new lock screen clocks, and a more straightforward Quick Settings layout. Nothing OS 4.0 brings an extra dark mode, a refined dark mode that claims to deepen blacks, improve contrast, and reduce power usage. It enhances readability across the notifications, quick settings, and the application drawer, with the support extended to first-party applications like Essential Space.
It can have more widget sizes with the new 1×1 and 2×1 widget layouts for Weather, Pedometer and Screen Time, when customising the home screen. The latest update will have an improved pop-up view for multitasking. There will be hidden icons, where the applications can now be hidden from the App Drawer. It also claims to bring smoother, more tactile animations across the touches, swipes, and gestures. Notifications claim to carry more natural motion and rebound. There will be haptic feedback at volume limits.
