New Delhi: In some recent reports, it is shown that Samsung has cancelled its upcoming S26 Edge. The reason behind the cancellation is the newly introduced S25 Edge; this smartphone’s sales are lower than expected by the company. While the Korean phone maker was expected to double down on the ultra-slim handset after the launch of iPhone Air, latest reports indicate that the S26 Edge has been cancelled. According to some sources, Samsung has decided to cancel the release of the S26 Edge for the following year. The reports state that the phone maker has decided not to go ahead with the ultra-thin device due to lower-than-expected sales of the S25 Edge.
Now it is believed that Samsung informed its employees that it will not continue the Edge lineup. The S25 Edge will cease production once its current stock is sold out, Samsung is not expected to revive the ultra-slim form factor for the S series in the foreseeable future. The S25 Edge did not live up to sales expectations. Samsung has sold total of 1.31 million units by August for context, the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra has reached 8.28 million, 5.05 million and 12.18 million units. However, one must note that the Edge was launched in May, months after the rest of the S series.
Samsung is going to replace the S26 Plus variant with the Edge during the launch in early 2026. The company now reported that it restarted development for the Plus variant a few weeks ago after seeing low demand for its ultra-thin device. It is now expected that the Plus variant has taken back its position in the S series lineup and will launch alongside the S26 Pro and S26 Ultra. The base S26 will likely to called as S26 Pro this year launch. These are only the recent reports, say, for the upcoming S26 series and their lineup.
