Next-Gen Apple Vision Pro to feature M5 chipset, launch slated for 2025

New Delhi: Apple is likely to introduce its latest Apple Vision Pro, which an M5 chipset will power. According to some sources, Apple aimed to expand its wearable products in both the Indian and global markets. It may be introduced as soon as Q3 2025. However, Apple will have a great competitor in innovative glass development, and that is Ray-Ban Meta Glasses.

Most of the specifications will remain unchanged, except for the SoC, which may get an upgrade from an M2 to an M5 chipset. The Vision Pro will remain a niche product aimed at XR applicants for developing the ecosystem and reducing component inventory.

The second product in the Apple Vision lineup might be the Vision Air. Some analysts said that its mass production will begin in Q3 2027, and it will powered by a flagship iPhone processor. This XR headset is reportedly equipped with the latest form factor. It may weigh up to 40% less than the Vision Pro, with Apple replacing the glass with plastic, using a magnesium alloy, and reducing the sensor count.

Apple’s Vision Air may come with a significantly lower price tag than the current XR headset, which retails for around $3,499, roughly Rs 2,99,000. In the coming years, Apple is expected to diversify its wearables lineup, starting with a smart glass competitor to the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses. This product might come with multiple options for frame and temple material. It is expected to offer voice control and gesture recognition for navigating across the UI.

Apple’s smart glass might not come with display functionality; instead, it may rely on audio playback, camera, video recording, and AI-based environmental sensing. The mass production of the Apple smart glasses is slated to begin in Q2 2027, with 3-5 million units projected to ship in the first year. Apple is also developing another type of XR glasses whose mass production may begin in the second half of 2028. The company will also equip them with a Liquid Crystal on Silicon display featuring a waveguide and a supporting colour screen.
