Mumbai Doctor Loses ₹7 Lakh in a Scam Using Deepfake Mukesh Ambani

New Delhi: A doctor in Mumbai fell victim to a stock market scam, losing ₹7 lakh after being tricked by a deepfake video of industrialist Mukesh Ambani on Instagram.

According to the victim, the scam began with a fake video of Mukesh Ambani that led her to believe in the legitimacy of the scheme. As a result, she ended up losing over ₹7 lakh. The incident was reported to the Mumbai Police, who have registered the case under sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 66(D) of the IT Act, as per ANI reports.

In her detailed statement, the doctor explained that she was added to a WhatsApp group through a link, where members assured her of high profits. They directed her to download a specific application and provided instructions to deposit money into various accounts. Trusting the promises made, she followed the instructions, which ultimately led to her significant financial loss.
