New Delhi: Mozilla has officially announced its set of latest features and updates coming to its Firefox browser in the coming weeks. These also include a built-in VPN, latest settings options, AI-powered tools, and the refreshed design. These upgrades are aimed at giving users more control, for better privacy, and tools that make everyday browsing easier.
Firefox VPN was going to be available as a separate paid service, but it is now being integrated into the browser as part of this latest upgrade.
This major upgrade also includes the free built-in VPN. This feature is especially designed to improve privacy by routing browser traffic through a proxy, which will help to hide a user’s IP address and location while browsing. It gives users privacy and protection online with no extra downloads.
Unlike several free VPN services, Mozilla stated that this feature is built around its privacy principles. The users will get up to 50 gigabytes of data per month in select regions, including the US, France, Germany, and the UK. This latest feature is expected to roll out with the upcoming version, Firefox 149, starting from March 24.
Firefox will soon enable users to customize their browsing experience. The settings section is being updated with clearer navigation and search options, making it simpler to find and adjust preferences. This latest upgrade will first be available in Firefox Nightly, which is an early experimental version of the Firefox browser.
Firefox is adding the latest tools called Smart Window that will use AI to provide quick help, such as definitions, summaries, and product comparisons, without leaving the page.
This latest feature will be optional and available via waitlist. Another upgrade is Split View, which lets users open two webpages side by side in one window for easier multitasking. Tab Notes will enable users to add notes to tabs to keep track of information while browsing.
The Firefox browser is also getting a visual upgrade across its browser and website. This also includes changes to themes, icons, toolbars, and menus to make the interface more modern and easier to use.
Mozilla has unveiled the latest mascot called Kit, which is going to appear across the browser as part of the upgraded experience. It is a more friendly and supportive companion, adding a sense of familiarity while the users browse.
